Changing spell damage types

Advice

Is there an item that allows you to change a/all spells to a specific energy damage type? I know of the Elemental Spell Metamagic feat but would prefer to find a different way as every feat is precious but i have extra cash.

Metamagic rod of elemental spell?

Something with more usages or always active?

A metamagic rod (or rods; nothing stops you having two metamagic rods of elemental spell, or even three) is the best item of that kind. Anything else is less efficient, with higher cost per use e.g. metamagic gems.

You can increase your effective spells known/prepared with staves, pages of spell knowledge etc. to increase your chance of having a spell with the right damage element.

There are certain archetypes/bloodlines/etc that force you into a damage type eg. the ELEMENTAL SORCERER BLOODLINE gives you certain spells that always cast with the appropriate element (eg, cold-burning hands).

With GM approval you can always research a spell equivalent to another one, but with a different element.

If your GM is up for it, that's the easiest way.

The GM should be up for it, because such spells already exist. For just a couple examples:

- Aggressive Thundercloud = electric-damage Flaming Sphere.
- Admonishing Ray = nonlethal Scorching Ray.
- Elemental bloodline automatically does this to the bloodline-granted versions of Burning Hands and Scorching Ray.

To OP: The bloodline arcanist archetype (replaces four exploits + capstone) gives you the Bloodline Arcana and bloodline powers (but not spells) connected to a sorcerer bloodline.

For the Elemental bloodline, and the four genie bloodlines, the Arcana is a free version of one of the Elemental Spell metamagics:

- Earth / Shaitan: [acid]
- Fire / Efreet: [fire]
- Air / Djinn: [electric]
- Water / Marid: [cold]
