So, I've been interested in toying around with an intelligent magic item one of these days, that's all well and good but the main issue is I'm having trouble fully understanding the rules and like... system to do that? I guess maybe I'm just being a bit stupid but I often find myself confused when attempting to figure it out on my own and when I look for answers online its mostly about players wanting to know how to make an Intelligent magic item in-game.
So basically, Can someone walk me through the process of creating an Intelligent magic item in the most simple way possible? Thanks in advance.

Decide what kind of “personality” you want the intelligent item to have and then just go through picking the alignment, ability scores, special abilities and purpose to fit that personality. Add the corresponding costs to the item, gold cost and ego.
An items Ego is essentially how willful it is to do what it wants. Higher the Ego, the more the item wants what it wants and doesn’t care what you want... the lower the Ego, the more agreeable the item is to stray from its own direct purpose.
When an item and the character who owns it have a disagreement or want different things, the character makes a will save equal to the item’s Ego. Success means the item obeys to the owner, failure means the owner obeys the item. All this is described in more details in the link above.
After creating the item make sure you consider how high the item’s ego is compared to your character’s capabilities... unless the point is to have a character be possessed over a long period of time, you don’t want to introduce a high Ego intelligent item unless you’re confident the player who will end up owning it can overcome its Ego 75%+ of the time.

I went to the Intelligent items tables and started rolling dice...
Ended up with a kukri that is Neutral Evil, can sprout legs and walk 10', wants to kill literally everyone other than itself and its wielder, and it can use a 6th level spell at will... I gave it Decapitate for its spell.
Completely based on dice rolls off the tables on D20PFSRD.
