When you take a Research Field, does that restrict what formula's you can use? Or does it just give you the ability in the second paragraph under the research field. Example is bomber can restrict the splash damage.
It does not restrict what type of formulas you can use. It just gives you the listed ability, and some follow-up abilities at later levels.
(In theory, there might also be Alchemist feats which have a certain research field as a prerequisite. But as far as I know, no published Alchemist feat has such a prerequisite.)
