Getting the favored terrain power without multiclassing

Advice

Hi folks,
I'm interested in picking up favored terrain for my character, mostly for roleplay reasons. I'd like to not multiclass. I'm playing an occultist.

I'm aware of being able to do variant multiclassing to ranger or cavalier (order of the green). I'd like the power much earlier than those would allow. It would be sweet if it scaled, but I don't need it to.

Thoughts?

There's a scaling magic item, trailblazer's boots, which does this.

While they don't give favored terrain per se, various feats give you bonuses of various kinds in certain terrain. Would one of those do or does it have to be 'favored terrain' by name? Also, which terrain type?

Thanks!

Don't need the name, but I do want the powers of favored terrain, which those don't really have.

Once you've traveled 1000 miles by foot the trailblazer's boots do give you favored terrain. Read the Reward section. The only problem is that scaling magic items are an optional rule.

If you want the exact +2 initiative, +2 to five skills bonus of favored terrain then you can't do that efficiently with feats - favored community does it but only for a very small area. If you want some sort of bonus, not necessarily that then there are options, especially for elves.

Thanks, I had missed the wording at the end. Favored community is actually quite close to what I want. Doesn't include the "leaves no trail and cannot be tracked" part, which is part of what I'd really like (as an EX, rather than SL or SU ability).

Other thoughts welcome. And I am playing an elf (or maybe half-elf) so other ideas there are most welcome.

Thanks again!

The cover tracks feat is a non-magical means of not leaving a trail. Pass without trace, however it might be acquired is better value but you don't want magic, huh. Mage of the wild (prereq attuned to the wild, elf) isn't good value in most games, but it could be useful for a game where you'll be defending your community.

Sovereign Court

Hunter's Blessing gets you most of the way there, though not technically favored terrain. It also gets you (effectively) a favored enemy too. Well, up to CL targets get the bonuses...

However, I see as I am writing that you are looking for the cannot be tracked aspect. Pull-ring of Scent or Slippers of the Primordial Wilds for can't be tracked by scent (though still can be tracked by other means), Trackless Boots for underground... which led me to Pass Without Trace.

A level 1 Occultist spell that seems to do what you want (besides being tracked via magic) for hour/level. So, pick that since you are an Occultist. You might have overlooked it since there are a bunch of useful level 1 Transmutation spells on the list, so get a Spell Lattice for 1,000 gp.
