So if I'm playing a level 1 sorcerer, and I have the Produce Flame cantrip, and my cantrips are automatically heightened (as a 1st-level sorcerer, your cantrips are 1st-level spells), does that mean that I cast Produce Flame as a cantrip at first level dealing 2d4+Cha damage? And then at level 3 I would cast it, still as a cantrip, dealing 3d4+Cha damage, and so on?

No. At level 1, you would cast it as a level 1 cantrip, dealing 1d4+CHA.
At level 3, when you gain level 2 spells, your Produce Flame cantrip is heightened to level 2, dealing 2d4+CHA. At level 5, when you gain level 3 spells, you would deal 3d4+CHA, etc.
Ah, okay, now I understand. So basically every time you gain a new spell slot level, your cantrips improve if they're a heightened +1.
Yup, and focus spells work the same way.

Keep in mind the comparison to your spells is only applicable if you are a full caster hence using it the word typical.
If you are not a caster it is level/2 rounded up. Yes that amounts to the same effect but is an important distinction otherwise you might assume your cantrips never scale without having spell slots. Or top out at 8d4 it your a caster dedication.
