Hero Forge, the customizable miniature company, is running a new kickstarter to update it's UI and add new features. It's raised nearly a million dollars in a single day and on top of that Kasathans and Uplifted Bears are being previewed on the kickstarter page.

I backed it... my first Kickstarter.

Without a regular source for Starfinder minis, HeroForge has become my go-to... getting color minis from them is going to be a game-changer...doubly so if we can make bears and other crazy aliens (skittermanders???).

This evening they put up an "alien" stretch goal so assuming they raise another 200gs, we will DEFINITELY be getting at least a few alien parts, so we'll get something (I too am hoping for skittermanders).

Kickstarter backers are getting their first minis at about $40 each, so I expect the final price to be at least that much. That means that they are good for PCs and recurring NPCs but probably too expensive for enemy mooks.

Yes, but I can basically use anything for mooks. I mean, the existing archive standees do mook just fine.

PCs, though, having a good mini can make a big difference in player enjoyment.

It made a big difference to me in our Starfinder campaign. I went from using a pre-painted Pathfinder goblin mini to a custom made Heroforge goblinoid wearing what looked like a spacesuit and carrying three pistols and a knife. Big improvement, even without being painted.

1,5 million, and 28 days to go.

I had no idea minis were that important.

Honestly? It's a uniquely personal part of gaming for some people. Your mini is important to how you view yourself and your character.

I asked them about the STL files for 3D printing. You will be able to purchase the 3D pack and then create any of their minis and then download up to 10 of them. This will be a great boon for us. Just wish they had a 4 armed torso version!

"Limb options" was the $400,000 stretch goal addon, which appears to be extra limbs.

The picture for the $1,650,000 stretch goal is a six armed "alien," so I'm sure that we'll be able to manage kasatha.
