Color spray question?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Can you just wake up people knocked unconscious by it? I'm not sure if it means unconscious like asleep or like anaesthetized.

unconcious =/= sleep. If i club you in the head with a hammer and knock you out, someone cant just shake you a few times to wake you up. In color sprays instance, its too much mental imagery and it basically shuts your brain down. If it was LIKE sleep, it would SAY sleep. As a GM i would allow you to wake them with smelling salts, but otherwise, no, absolutely not.

If it meant asleep it'd say so. A bunch of things apply to sleep effects in particular.

never leave home without these.

smelling salts:
These sharply scented gray crystals cause people inhaling them to regain consciousness. Smelling salts grant you a new saving throw to resist any spell or effect that has already rendered you unconscious or staggered. If exposed to smelling salts while dying, you immediately become conscious and staggered, but must still make stabilization checks each round; if you perform any standard action (or any other strenuous action), you take 1 point of damage after completing the act and fall unconscious again. A container of smelling salts has dozens of uses if stoppered after each use, but depletes in a matter of hours if left open.

the number of times we got the enemy down to negative hit points and then needed to question them is alarmingly high. it also save us the need to waste healing on them up to reach positive h.p. only need to bind their wounds up to make them stable.

How have I never noticed those? Expensive for a starting character but so worth it.

i actuly first met them in 3.5 Ravenloft's 'Van Richten's arsenal' (that one had tons of stuff for monster hunters. magical and mundane)

and i was sooo happy when they were moved into pathfinder.

they might be a bit expensive for one 1st level character, but since you only need one pack for the party, just get 5 members to dish out 5 gp each and get it into the party loot, along with the manacles and such. it last for quite long time. (anyone with craft alchemy, like an alchemist, can craft it for 8.33~ gp if they can make the craft dc)
