Multiclass Dedication "Class DC"

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 16

I'm trying to get myself up to speed on 2nd Edition, so please forgive this question if it's dumb...

I'm building an Elven (Cloistered) Cleric of Sarenrae for my wife. She has always enjoyed running woodsy archer clerics.

I was going to take Ranger Dedication at second level, but do not understand what comes from "You become trained in ranger class DC". Could someone please clarify? Would she pick up additional weapon or armor proficiencies?

A Class DC is its own thing, not tied to other proficiencies.

Being "trained" is just like with other trained abilities, she'll get her level + 2 as her base proficiency (+10 of course, since it's a DC). Then Dex or Str because those are the options for a key ability for Rangers.

Offhand, I do not know where Rangers use this. Generally it comes up w/ feats that have saving throws, like when a Barbarian breathes fire or a Monk uses Stunning Fist. The Brawling weapon group also references using your class DC for its Critical Specialization, in which case I think you'd use your best.

Basically, I read that to mean that you're a ranger now, and for ranger specific feats/attacks/whatever, this is what you use.

The first part matters because future feats will sometimes have a prerequisite that you be a ranger, so being trained in ranger DC establishes that you are eligible.

It means that you gain the Ranger DC class feature. As written in the Ranger class section. (Level + 2 for trained). That way if you pick up any feats or abilities from it, you can aactually use a DC.
Such as if you pick this ability up at lv 16

As a stem question, I wonder if being trained in that, using your level, means that you have the same class levels in the dedication.
Because there are weird feats like Poison Weapon that cite class level
