What are the restrictions on the age of the things you create? For example, when you create a human out of a pebble, is it default at its prime, or could you make a baby (perhaps to serve as bait for a monster or to trick your paladin into a moral imperative situation). And *if* you can make a baby out of a pebble, can you make a baby out of a person... Polymorph a humanoid creature into a baby of the same creature type? And *if* you polymorph them into a baby of their creature type, does their aging process continue from their original form, or do they begin aging as a baby of their creature type?
Or, if you cast PaO on a creature who has a 20 year life expectancy, and you polymorph it *permanently* into a creature with a 40 year life expectancy, or one that ages at a different rate (magical beasts vs animals), which aging process do you follow?

By the RAW, you probably can't create anything other than adult versions of most things. This is because age is usually handled via templates and you can't apply templates using polymorph spells unless said spell states otherwise.
You can make something "appear" younger or older, but it wouldn't gain any of the mechanical benefits/penalties associated with it (eg. Wizened Appearance). So the polymorphed creature would still age normally based on whatever their actual creature type is. POA and the spells it's based on don't actually change your creature type even if you have the form of said creature type.
This means that even if you turned a pebble turned into a human and found a way to make the duration permanent, it won't actually age and would never become venerable or even die of old age.

I don't think that's possible haha. And I assumed as much, I just wasn't certain how it worked out once you had gotten to permanent polymorph status. I'll need to find some way to polymorph a pebble into a baby though (it would only be for the 20 min duration)... It's the perfect distraction gimmick for my CN sorcerer. I'm not *technically* using a baby as bait, it just really looks that way.

I mean, depending on your race you might be able to do something along those lines
For example, a halfling could use Twine Double + Youthful Appearance to make something that is the same size and appearance as a human toddler. Assuming of course that the only goal is to create a decoy.
There's also Major Image (which has sight, sound, smell and heat). But I assume you're looking for something that's more then just a straight up illusion.
edit: re-reading twine double, you'd have to cast Youthful Appearance on yourself and depending on your DM that may or may not work. I wanted to use Shadowself to make copies of my party by first making myself look like said party members, but the DM ruled that all copies I used would look like my normal self, regardless what spell effects I was under at the time of the casting. I also realized that my plan wouldn't of anyway since I was a gnome, meaning I would of created miniature versions of my party members....

Yes, one idea is to polymorph a container of lava into a baby. Use the baby as bait to get eaten by the monster... wait the remainder of the 20min until polymorph wears off... the damage done to the baby by being eaten no doubt means the container is broken... lava spilling into the creature's inside is *at least* the same damage as being fully submerged.... 20d6 unsaveable damage per round, with essentially no way to stop it. Then if something is heat resistant just use acid, 10d6 per round, etc...
