Hideous Laughter

Rules Discussion

I noticed the duration is Sustained.

Critical Success The target is unaffected.
Success The target is plagued with uncontrollable laugher. It can't use reactions.
Failure The target is slowed 1 and can't use reactions.
Critical Failure The target falls prone and can't use actions or reactions for 1 round. It then suffers the failure effects.

So does that mean say the enemy fails its save, the target is slowed 1 and can't use reactions, if I sustain the spell on my next turn and the following rounds will it keep the "Slowed 1 and can't use reactions" going?

Yes.

Yes.

it's an incredibly powerful spell, that a lot of times it's worth sustaining even if they made their save, depending on what you're fighting.

Woohoo! Finally something I can get behind. After Demoralize was incredibly disappointing to me.

So if the enemy critically fails he's basically done as long as I keep sustaining the prone condition?

No. The critical fail effect lasts one round, then you're sustaining only the fail effect.

The “no reactions” alone is worth the price of admission on some tough bosses who can otherwise gut one party member every turn.

Denying dragons and other bosses their reactions is no laughing matter indeed.

And since this doesn't have the incapacitate trait, it's a level 2 spell that can be useful against bosses forever.
