"Specific Magic Weapons
Source Core Rulebook pg. 600
These weapons have abilities far different from what can be gained by simply etching runes. A specific magic weapon lists its fundamental runes, which you can upgrade, add, or transfer as normal. You can’t etch any property runes onto a specific weapon that it doesn’t already have."
So. specififc magic weapons. From what I can tell you can increase the potency/striking just fine. Or apparently take them away.
but no matter what you can not add properties then? So you can not put wounding or.... Returning on it then?
I was trying to figure out a weapon for my character until lv 10 (when they can use a Star Knife with wounding returning).
Dagger of Venom was neat idiea for a bit. but you can not put Returning on it correct?
well at least you can increase potency/striking just fine. Which means magic weapons can be used more readily/longer right?
but really wish you could put properties in and make them suit your style
Did I understand all of that right?

Yep. No new property runes for magic weapons that have unique magical properties. Keep in mind that their innate properties need a minimum level of fundamental potency runes to remain supported, so you can’t transfer that potency rune off the weapon. But you could transfer one you’ve added in the past to post creation improve it’s base potency.

Specific magic weapons appear to let you do whatever you normally could with the fundamental runes, so technically you can transfer the potency rune off the specific magic weapon. I would expect that the specific magical abilities of the weapon would stop working in that case, just like the way property runes go inert if you remove the potency rune. But I haven't seen that explicitly stated anywhere.
So if, for whatever reason, you didn't care about the properties of the weapon you could still swipe the fundamental runes for something else.
