Question about Magnificent Mansion.

Rules Discussion

So one of my favorite spells in various D20 games is Magnificent Mansion. However in P2E, the dimensions it gives you to build your mansion doesn't sound like a Mansion. The floorplan is limited to having to fit within "40 feet wide, 40 feet deep, and 30 feet high." That doesn't sound like a mansion. I mean it still is a useful spell since it gives you a safe place to sleep with your friends and comes with plenty of food, but I still wouldn't call it a Magnificent Mansion. More like a Really Nice Apartment. Am I reading the spell wrong, or are those dimensions a lot more generous than they look in my head?

1600’ sq ft is the area of my four bedroom home with a large living area and tiny kitchen. So this sounds like a fancy, roomy three story townhouse to me.

Well an average room is what? 10-15 cubic feet? Maybe a bit less? So yeah that's not much of a "mansion."

I guess they were like "they don't really need a real mansion" but it wasn't ever really a question of what's needed, being extra with magic is fun.

Well your average linen closet is like 48-60 cubic feet (depending on ceiling height) so that's not quite right, but I'll assume you meant square feet? Most decent rooms are 10'x10' at least, so that's 100 square feet. Could certainly go smaller depending on age or race.

If we assume 10' (give or take for structural needs) ceilings (nice and high, but not excessive), the dimensions given is a ~4800 sq. ft. house. While not the largest "mansion", it's still pretty darn big.

48,000 cubic feet is also the same as what you get with a caster level 16 magnificent mansion in PF1. It is just that the description in PF2 makes it a little easier to visualize than a big stack of cubes, so it's more obvious what size it is now.

Nope, I just apparently don't know how cubic and square feet work. I didn't know you multiplied them like that, thought a ten foot by ten foot room was ten square feet, since them being square would take care of the multiplication, or so I thought...
