Action Economy Conversion Guide

Conversions

Hi, everyone.

I was not able to participate in the playtest, but now that PF2 is out, I've been looking at the PFRD for PF2 on Nethys and I like what I see.

My main issue is that our group has been playing an hybrid of several editions of the game based on the PF1 chassis. From what I've been able to digest of the PF2 chassis, the math appears much more streamlined while still allowing for optimum diversity between characters. And, from a very brief observation of some of the monsters, PF2 looks to be easier to GM (which is a definite strength, in my opinion).

The Rosetta Stone for conversion for me is to map out how the action economy converts from PF1 to PF2. Has this already been done? I'm not necessarily looking for a full conversion guide, just a conversion of the action economy.

Thank you.

don't really know if that's what you're talking about, but for me it feels like:

standard action = 2 actions
swift/move action = 1 action
free action = free action but limited to once per trigger
immediate action = reaction but it doesn't cost you the "swift action"

is the basis of the conversion used.

but all in all, the way they spread the 3 action system it makes everything more fluid to the point that it's hard to fully convert it in the strict action economy of pf1.

You can check out the Unchained Action Economy for some guidance. The basic guidelines are essentially what shroudb said, but the full writeup contains slightly more nuance with regards to individual actions.

(Even so, though, it mostly covers the basic actions that PF2 has already integrated, so it may or may not be of help for specific class features and things).

Thank you.

Much appreciated.
