Helpless Condition

Rules Questions

In the text its states held as a way to give the helpless condition. Now my question is, If a monster is big enough (3 sizes larger) would you consider them being able to hold someone? Like a medium character just picks up a diminutive character would you say that meets the criteria for the diminutive character to be helpless. Personally I would but I cant find anything in the forums to support it.

Grand Lodge

held means via the hold person/monster spells, not just being held onto by something, that would be the grappled condition.

The helpless condition ("paralyzed, held, bound, sleeping, unconscious, or otherwise completely at an opponent’s mercy") is a bit ambiguous, but this sort of thing doesn't sound fun to me:

GM: "The kraken grabs you and inflicts a coup de grace on you. You are briefly helpless and then dead."
Player: "But I'm a level 20 Fighter! I have 243 hit points left!"
GM: "Yes, but it's a hundred feet long. This is more realistic than you being able to kill it with a tiny sword."

Yeah, held in this case refers to the spell Hold Person (or Hold Monster), in which it causes you to be paralyzed, but is slightly different/worse because paralyzed allows you to take purely mental actions which Hold Person does not.
