Is there some sort of official guide to converting the BB characters to the Core rules?
I bought the Core rules and I am trying to work through it myself but I just don't want to miss anything.
Wow, no responses since its posting in May?
IS there an answer to this question? My players are disappointed as well that the box only goes to level 4 and has significant differences to the Core Rules book.

I don't have the beginner box, so I might be off here, but the iconic characters (the pre-made characters in the beginner box) have been statted up for Starfinder Society. That may be a good place to start.
Give me a few minutes, I'll try to find a link.
Edit: Here are the pregens:
Double edit: fixed the link. I always get them backwards.

I'd say let them re-work their characters from the ground up.
It would be easier than trying to convert them from a simplified version of the same. It would also help them learn more of the nuances and differences between the versions.
Or just go with the pre-gens as Mr Mosasaur suggests (though they're generally not exactly considered "optimal").

Pregens tend to be notoriously over or under-statted, based on my review of the PF Iconic characters, but thanks for referencing them, I will look them over.
What I am looking to determine without having to sit down and literally dissect the Beginner Box (hereafter referred to as the "BB") skill sets. Some skills in the BB are groups of related skills, like INTERACT is obviously Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate & Sense Motive.
If Core provides significantly less skill points per level compared to the BB, my players are going to be pissed and unlikely to want to play Society as they will feel underpowered compared to their BB versions.
I can extrapolate going beyond 4th (much like beyond 20th in most systems), but I would like an official splat that will be legal in Society that I can present to my players. Otherwise its just going to be "friends table", which isn't bad, by the way, but I miss PF Society and would like to help my group adapt to core and get them involved.
I mean, its bad enough Society tends to nerf certain races, skills, classes, items and/or means of using them (if at all), I don't want to hamstring them with a net loss just stepping up to Core from BB. I hope I am getting the concept across.
