Is there a way for a vitalist to make health sense either constant or a free action instead of a swift action?


Health Sense is a moderately complicated ability in what it can do. What are you trying to accomplish?

TLDR: YMMV, Ask your GM.

Are you trying to just get a gauge on how injured your collective is, so you can properly shuffle healing around?

Personally, if I were your GM, I'd allow that as a free action as part of Collective Healing (Su).

Given that there are MANY nifty things that have recently been put out that boost the Heal SKILL, and Treat Wounds, I'd (personally), make it a hard NO, to upgrading the ability to Treat Wounds over the network from an already potent swift action.

You can find someone's in depth research on various things that modify Heal here as well as various other places on the boards.


Just want to know my party's hp level and given that my main heal is a swift action to use it muddles things up quite a bit.


Also I have no interest in healing hp damage with the heal skill just help with condition removal.


So no items or anything to do this? What about other useful items?

Why do you need to get exact HP measures? Can your party not talk at all or what is going on? You should be able to at least say stuff along the lines of "I am fine, but a scratch" to "I lost all blood, he punched it out of me, please heal me now."


Well the idea for the character is to micromanage every single point of healing so that as few points are lost as possible.


Completely full HP should be left for after the battle, when you have actions to use. If everyone is above half, start throwing out buffs or throw small bits of healing to the whole party.

Or ask your party for their HPs and any energy resistance and DE they might have and track it yourself.

You are making things way harder than they need to be.


The cleric in our group often asks "How's everyone doing?" which has responses like "I'm X down," "I'm at Y of Z," "Less the half," or "Another one of those and I'm toast." How much info you can pass along like that differs between tables, but it may not need a special ability and swift action to get a good accounting.

Also, note that you can only spread healing the original recipient lets you. Those who are less hurt can simply allow you to reassign more healing, while those who are moreso won't.

I've given my own 2 copper about this above, and have run games including a Vitalist, from both sides of the table.


That is redirecting healing as a free action, not knowing players HP.

That being said, it still seems silly that you need this much info in combat at every point to "play" the character.


Well until I reach higher level I will have a limited number of uses for my healing ability due to multi classing a bit/level adjustment.

In combat healing is the only healing I need to worry about so getting the most out of each of the uses when in combat, the party is pretty reckless in combat most of the time meaning they take more damage than most others that I have played with.

Out of combat healing is not needed though only in combat healing.

Also looking for useful to get for the character besides just the big 6.
