False Priest sorcerer archetype - Need advice where to go with this character

Advice

Yes, yes, I know it is Razmiran Priest, but we play in Talingrade, world of Way of the Wicked adventure path. There is no Razmir there, and characters are expected to be Lawful Evil (or close).

Mechanically, my character is Kitsune, False Priest of Rakshasa bloodline. Str 11, Dex 17, Con 8, Int 16, Wis 10, Cha 20. We use encouraged (by the Path) houserule of +2 skill points per level, so with favored bonus gives me 2+2+3+1 = 8 skill points / level. At the moment I went with Bluff, Disable Device*, Disguise, Spellcraft, Use Magic Device, Knowledge (Arcana), Knowledge (Religion), Profession (Gambler)*. The ones with * are pretty much needed for this character to work with the adventure he's in.
For feat, he got Realistic Likeness, and for alternative racial trait - he also turns into a fox.

As you can see, I made him a liar, and someone who is where he isn't supposed to be. I have in mind a character that wants to steal fire from the gods and well, capitalize on it on his own ;) Of course, he will rather steal magic items and lost relics, and maybe extort some money from foolish believers. He is *meant* to be a bit reckless, or at least not any more cautious than your average everyman.

And now I have a problem. It is really fun to play him on 1st level, but what now? I expect to get to level 3 pretty soon, and we probably will be leveling him up "just because" to let him join party on level 7~8.

I need advice on feats for the next levels. I also wouldn't mind advice for skill and spell progression. I admit - I am at loss. Any guidance, please?

Magic Tail x 9

With only 8 constitutions I'd be inclined to pick up the Toughness feat. It's boring, but your hit points are goingt o be alarmingly low with stats like those. For skills, you can just keep investing in the skills you already have if you like. Diplomacy, Perception, and Stealth would be good choices to invest in as you gain more levels if you do want to branch out into something different.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

For HP, I thought about that. On the other hand, Way of the Wicked flat out gives 18 and 8 to stats, and tells that every villain should have a weak spot, to make play interesting. So that's mine. I know it, I'll account for it with Aid and Infernal Healing spells, but I'm inclined to leave it there. Hope I won't regret it - even if character dies, it can be a good story to tell. But I prefer him to bluff his way out of hard situations rather than brute force it with HP.

For Diplomacy, Perception and Stealth, I'll consider. So far, "But I'm supposed to be there!" with all the bonuses to Bluff and Disguise I have worked well. And later, I don't want to step on Shadowdancer's toes, let him have his sneaky fun ;) One or two ranks not to be totally useless? May be. May be.

I stand by my "pick Magic Tail nine times recommendation", and add "get the Cunning feat to get more ranks!"

Cunning may pretty well give me one more skill. That's nice, I think I need them... Thanks! Wouldn't have thought about that.

I'd like to focus on stealing divine magic and misdirection. I was considering building on Deceitful feat, but I'm not sure if and how I would do that, exactly.

As for magic tails, they are nice, and I'll get them if I won't find anything more fitting my concept - concept based on extorting magic, not exploring my own.

Divine Defiance + Focused Disbelief?

Stylized Spell featline would be hilarious.

Wow. Now that's something! And as far as I can tell, it wouldn't even affect magic from items my character is using, because hi is as opposite to divine source as it gets... Being healed by others would kinda suck, but as I already said, I'm OK with having flaws in HP area.

Do check the Stylized Spell featline too! It's pretty fun for spell bluffing.

Oh my, Stylized Spell featline is amazing! It basically brings the lies into my spellcasting. I wonder what synergy t has with Rakshasa bloodline arcana. Increased DC is nice, of course. And bloodline arcana lets me foul people that I'm casting entirely different spell.

So, when using "disguise your stylized spell as another spell of the same school and subschool with the same descriptors" - any chance to use that entirely different spell from bloodline arcana? That sounds a bit OP, but at the same time - it would cost me two different abilities already, so it'll be nice to get something spectacular from it. (Worry not, other characters in the party I hope to join have pretty crazy combos under their belts too)
