For the Playtest they used Fulfillment by Amazon to try to get things to people right around the release date. It didn't go well at all, but that seems to have been a screw-up by Amazon. (People who orderd from Amazon got it just fine, it was just the direct from Paizo orders that got botched). If I recall most didn't even ship until after they should have arrived in the first place, and some international orders didn't arrive until a month late. It was a pretty big disaster. I'm hoping Paizo got a big refund or credit or something for that. That said, I think Fulfillment by Amazon usually has a pretty good track record for this kind of thing, but the playtest had terrible luck. I expect Paizo will be trying really hard not for a repeat of that fiasco for the final release.

Noon question, be nice to me! I live all the way out in Ireland- if I preorder the CRB, Bestiary and World Guide, should I expect it to arrive close to August 1st or not at all?
They aim to get everyone their books on or around the release date each month. Having said that, in big months (and August is likely to be one of those) the sheer volume of orders makes that impossible. Some people will get it a couple of days early but others are likely to get it a couple of days late.
The shipping charge is likely to be high as international orders over a certain weight have limited and expensive options. (You should be able to estimate that and look into the shipping options available to you by adding the three books to your shopping cart now and stepping through to the second stage. You can always back out at that stage (just don't click the big red button at the final step).

Yeah, I wonder if they'll use Amazon fulfillment this time around. I doubt it.
As I recall, they had to know the numbers quite a way in advance..(the books got shipped direct to Amazon's distribution centre, I seem to recall?). That's likely to be an issue with a regular old subscription/preorder shipment.

I hope that something will change. I don't want to spend 56 bucks, the price of the core rulebook, for the shipping
It’s very unlikely to be cheap. Paizo do not subsidise shipping costs (beyond a $10 discount if you order more than $100) and international shipping for heavy books has become extremely high in recent years.
If you subscribe you will probably get a free PDF (which might make the shipping more reasonable). Nonetheless, in the last two years it seems to me that if you are a cost sensitive, international customer buying direct has become a poor option.

Preach. I really would love to subscribe for everything but the shipping costs are extreme for hardcover books even to Canada which isn't even that far away! I'll have to continue manually ordering them off amazon.

I know the feel... Same boat. bookdepository.com has some of the books and free worldwide shipping, it just takes ages to arrive, but it's an option.

Thanks boys! Honestly, the only thing holding me back from splurging on the hard copies is that I don't want to wait. I'm a subscriber to the AP series and was previously a sub for the comic series, and the time it took for things to arrive was pretty long- something I'm willing to put up with for non-necceseties, but I want my stuff, dang it!
I'll investigate prices for priority shipping- am I understanding right in that becoming a subscriber will snag you a PDF copy too? How can I sign up?

Paizo shipping costs have always been a mystery to me, much more expensive than smaller companies that were also shipping out of the US and fluctuating almost randomly.
For instance 3 books is more expensive than 5 books, cards and GM screen.
Two books is more expensive than three books for me too.
It is a shame, I would love to support them directly but when you are talking $120 more in shipping alone it starts cutting into the gaming funds a bit sadly.
I trust that they ship at no profit to themselves btw, I just don't trust that they have a shipping calculator that functions very well when it comes to calculating the best option for international customers.
