Unchained Poison Rules

Rules Questions

Has anyone used this in your games? How did they work out? Were they easier to use or harder?

I'm not familiar with Unchained Poison Rules, are you talking about the Disease/Poison Optional Rules with the progression steps?

Yes. Sorry I wasn't clearer. Have you used them?

Yes, I do use them. Those rules become pretty obsolete around level 5-8ish because the Poison DC's don't scale and most PC's already have decent saves and access to the appropriate magic to get rid of it, so I have been toying around with making a house rule that makes the DC's of poisons scale.

I'm thinking of making it either:

10 + 1/2 char lvl + primary modifier (of the person USING the poison)

or

Original Poison DC + 1/2 char lvl + Int Mod (of the person who CRAFTED the poison)

Hmm. You're right about poison DC's. Since 3.0 I've lamented poisons were so nerfed they were nearly useless. I like your ideas there.

But, during the lower levels, those rules are pretty fun. I like using them because it exacerbates the situation and adds some "oh crap we gotta do something about this before it gets worse" tension.

True. When my players at lower levels the threat of poison sends them into fits.
