Ranged Only Magic Weapon Properties and Thrown Weapons in Melee

Rules Questions

Suppose you attach a ranged only magic property to a thrown weapon, but that property would be beneficial to melee combat. Is the user allowed to use that ranged only property in melee combat?

The example that came up was using the Driving weapon enhancement, which allows ranged weapons to bull rush within the first ranged increment, to allow the user to use their weapon bonuses when bull rushing in *melee* combat.

In my opinion, it can only used to perform the manoeuvre in it’s first range increment So it’s invalid for melee. Pretty sure that wasn’t the intent in any case.

They can't use it while making melee attacks.

They could however, make a ranged attack against someone who is in an adjacent square to make use of the driving ability. But it would provoke AoO without Point Blank Master or similar ability (actually it provokes twice, once for making a ranged attack and once for bull rushing, unless they have improved bull rush and point blank master, though it's unlikely the monster has combat reflexes). It will also use their statistics for making ranged attacks instead of melee. Which includes using dex + BAB instead of strength. And also includes penalties for things like firing into melee.
