My group has been doing monthly 1-day APs, but playing them in a loud environment (like a store, in our case, but a convention would also apply) proved to be challenging.
After doing AP 1 like that we moved our game to a private home and this has proven easier.
As for the content, if you strip out most of the RP and have a party that knows what they're doing (and are unlikely to get messed up from normal encounters), you can do the APs in 8-11 hours, I think.

Our home group has been unable to run the AP books in less than 18 hours. We’re playing in a private home, optimized for gaming (quiet, with a huge magnetic dry-erase board for tracking initiative and tacking up pictures) with the same group (who I’d like to think know the rules as well as could be expected and know each other’s characters well enough to coordinate roles). Having said that, however, I was able to play in and complete Incident at Absalom Station during the banquet at PaizoCon. The GM had to keep us on task and some parts had to be rushed, but we got it all in and I didn’t feel we skimped on the role play.

We just do it shorthand.

I have run each book of Dead Suns 1-4 and All of Against The Aeon Throne in a store setting. Each book takes 2 4-hr slots. I somehow manage it every time...
This is our mileage exactly. We do two slots per book with people walking away talking about how much fun they had...
With one exception. One group I’m running Dead Suns for averages 8 - 10 hours per part per book, for 24-30 hours a book. Lots of tangents and RP, and it’s great because we play in a private room at a bar and grill. Unlimited soft drinks, full service food, plenty of booze; it’s fantastic!
