Hello All,
My GM is running an eternal night campaign, with the idea that light also cannot be produced through magical means. I want to make a character who will use electicity to discover tech like lightbulbs, without having to use the high tech rules like technologist gives. As it would be impossible to find a lab. If anyone has any ideas my GM has told me I am limited to strictly paizo released content to make it work, but anything within paizo released content will work. I'm hitting a bit of wall myself.
Thank you for your time!

Why not just run with the campaign theme instead of trying your hardest to find an opt out clause?
Problem: No magical light allowed.
Solution: I'll invent electricity! Take that DM!
I'm not sticking anything to the DM though. We all like to try and come up with things like this. I even asked if he was ok with me pursuing this, and that if he wasn't ok with it to just tell me. He was excited for the idea.

Without knowing the rules of this 'eternal night' campaign, I can't be much help. Can you not just use fire?
That's totally fair and I can use fire. It's just the kinda group we run we like to try and come up with creative solutions for the sake of the story. Like being a crazy scientist who knew all along the "the magic lights will fail us." I was just wondering if anyone was familiar with trying to integrate electricity into a campaign without cybertech and stuff. Early discovery based things. We have discussed using an alchemical engine, or even magic to maintain power to mundane light sources such as light bulbs.

Ah, well, the closest I could get you to harnessing electricity to power a 'light bulb' in Pathfinder (without using cybertech or technological items in the Tech Guide) is attempting to harness the power inherent in elementals. Fire or Air elementals should do, one for "fire" and one for "electricity". Put them in an alchemical bottle somehow.

You might consider gaslight. The famous gas forges of Riddleport should give a starting point for developement, if that is relevant to the campaign.
Electric lighting requires more than just a source of electricity, vacumm to produce the evacuated bulbs for one thing.
Gas light is a good idea thanks for that. My DM will love the idea if I can't figure out electric lighting.

That's a really good idea, thanks. I'll run that by the DM and see how he feels about it.
