Greetings!
I have a dilemma concerning 2 class abilities coming from a prestige class, Scar Seeker, and how exactly do they stack with those coming from a Paladin class.
1)Lay on Hands:
At 2nd level, a scar seeker gains the ability to lay on hands. This ability functions as the paladin ability of the same name. For the purpose of this ability, a scar seeker’s class levels stack with levels in any other class that grants the lay on hands ability.
So, do I get 1/2 paladin level + CHA + 1/2 Scar Seeker level + CHA,
or just 1/2 Paladin level + 1/2 Scar Seeker level + CHA?
2)Smite Evil:
At 4th level, a Scar Seeker gains the ability to smite evil. This ability functions like the paladin ability of the same name, but the scar seeker’s effective paladin level equals his class level – 3 (minimum 1). For the purpose of this ability, a scar seeker’s class levels stack with levels in any other class that grants the smite evil ability. He gains another use per day of this ability at 8th level.
If I use a Paladin archetype that changes Smite Evil, do I add Smite Evil uses from Scar Seeker to the alternate ability that replaced Smite Evil, or do I then count them as seperate abilities, in which case I don't count my Paladin as a class that grants the Smite Evil ability?
Thank you in advance.

1. you don't get cha twice, levels stack. cha doesn't stack.
2. You'd have to be more specific, but if you used an archetype that changed smite evil, it depends on if its listed under the same ability name or not, among other things
I agree with both these answers. Some archetypes that change Smite would say "this archetype counts as Smite Evil", but even then there are some that wouldn't work. You really would have to be specific.
For the first question I want to be a bit more specific. If you went Paladin 5/Scar Seeker 5 you would count as a level 10 "Paladin" for the purposes of Lay on Hands (you'd heal 5d6, you'd get 5+CHA uses).

For Lay on Hands you get (Paladin Level + Scar Seeker level)/2 + CHA. This way if the levels are odd you don’t lose the fraction. So if you are a 5th level paladin and a 5th level scar seeker with a 16 CHA you get 8 uses of lay on hands not 7.
If the paladin’s archetype still has the class ability smite evil your levels of scar seeker stack with it but with a -3 penalty. So if you have a 5th level paladin and a 5th level scar seeker your smite evil functions as if you were a 7th level paladin. But you only gain extra smites as indicated by each class. If the paladin’s archetype trades out smite evil for different ability than your levels with scar seeker do not stack with that. Even if the ability functions the same as smite evil with minor changes. For example the Ghost Hunter archetype gets ghostly smite instead of smite evil. In this case the two abilities do not stack.
