Third-Party Starfinder Products

Just finished a session and used the Syrinscape program in it for the first time. It was quite the addition and I really hope they continue to make Starfinder based soundsets for it. I bought the complete subscription which gives you access to all fantasy and sci-fi soundsets for 10$ a month.

I had 4 high end speakers sitting around and decided to add them to my game room this weekend as well as purchase a new stereo receiver for the purpose of adding sound to my games.

It has everything from environmental sounds to starship sounds and my players loved it. I definitely recommend everyone at least give it a shot if you are set up to use it in your games somehow with the ability to play off some kinf of sound set-up. Its a free trial anyways.

I'm holding back on a full review of the system til we have a few more sessions under our belt but I'm liking what I see so far.

Since they've finally gotten a working version of an online player up and running I also went in on the complete subscription and it's been a big hit with my players so far. Maybe it's all those years of Star Trek, but there's just something about incorporating even basic ambient audio like the steady hum of a starship or space station's engines...

I just hope that they are continuing to produce for Starfinder as it seems to me that they haven’t released anything for Starfinder or Pathfinder specifically I’m quite awhile from what I can gather. On a positive note they have enough soundsets between fantasy and science-fi that I already would be hard pressed to find something that doesn’t match to our current gaming situation.

They released soundsets for the current 2e playtest.

I dropped my subscriptions due to the lack of SF releases. Hopefully things will pick up eventually - I had hopes that with the slower AP releases they’d find it easier to keep pace with paizo’s output.

Personally, the choice to provide sound effects for lots of different starships wasn’t much use to me as the players spend almost all their time in just one. I would have much preferred some location and battle variety early on with spaceship diversity later.

So far I'm liking it because of the added ambience but after going through the options I'm only going to be keeping it if Starfinder and Pathfinder get updated little more often with added soundsets. 10$ a month doesn't seem like much but living in Canada it ends up being closer to 15$ which when we only play weekly is about 4$ for ambient sound per session.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I dropped my subscription. There were just too few sci-fi releases to make it worth it to me.

I upgraded to the super-syrin level of subscription and I absolutely love it. The price is not cheap, but I believe in rewarding a job that is well done, so I am happy with my sub.

Obviously I would love to see the online player move from beta to full release as soon as possilbe (as I'm sure do the devs). In general, I love the soundsets but mostly I'm happy for the customization tools that come with the license, the possibility to modify the existing soundsets, upload stuff to it and create your own soundsets and moods, tweak and automate them.

I also really like that players connected to my syrinscape don't have to pay a dime! Apparently this is not something to take for granted (see recent Hero Lab Online developments...), yet it's absolutely a must have feature in my opinion.
