Pyromancer in a Bomb Shop

Advice

I'm running Ironfang Invasion. At the end of last session, the evoker wizard went on a little sidequest and ended up confronting some villains in an alchemy shop. Never one to pass up an opportunity for cinematic mayhem, the wizard cast detonate. Since it was the end of the session, I said I'd let him know the outcome next week.

I don't want to punish the player (much) for his bravado, but it feels like there should be some accounting for the venue where the spell was cast. Does anyone have any ideas of how to adapt the effects of the spell to account for its having been cast in a small shop packed with dangerous chemicals?

Season 4 Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Mac "Did two fire dudes just fall into a where house of fireworks?" Coulson "Yup... Didn't see that one coming..."
So how much Alchemist Fire, Acid, Alchemical/Gun Powder, Ect.. would likely have been present? Was there like a new shipment awaiting delivery? There is a scene from "The Color of Magic" part one where a bar tender sets fire to his own bar to collect insurance, but the resulting fire burns down 30-50 surrounding establishments, like the London Fires of old.
So if this were in town and the wizard happen to have the spells to survive it, say teleport/dimension door, just roll a 1d4 and inform them that's how many hit points they have remaining after their harrowing escape, then describe the fire that raged all night and late into the following day that consumes countless buildings and killed dozens, maybe even get the rest of the party caught up, helping in rescues and narrow escapes, like the party barbarian running through alleyways choked with smoke and fire while carrying 3-4 orphans to safety, the party healer tending to the injured and out of healing spells when the wizard shows up for help...
And the rogue in party possibly taking advantage to loot shops as people evacuate out of harms way...

I think there was one adventure that took place in a small shop. If any one of the players cast a spell or hit one of the shelves while attacking, the DM rolled a D4 (based on the amount of damage that was dealt to the shelves) and things would blow up. Sometimes it was an alchemists fire, sometimes it was an acid splace, someones sneezing/blinding/iching powder, sometimes something legit just blew up and dealt flat damage.

If its an Alchemical shop, roll a d% dice and make a table for whats on the shelves - and whenever you roll that is what got hit with the explosion and knocked over (per shelf).

If this is legit just a bomb shop, make everything that was hit by the attack blow up and cause massive damage to the surrounding area. I don't think it would kill the party, but it would cause massive damage to the shop - if not outright destroy its structural integrity.

(Edit) What types of bombs/alchemical items does this shop sell mostly?

Detonate doesn't have any concussive force, just damage of one chosen elemental type. It seems unlikely to me that such damage would destroy or break the flasks.

I could maybe see the contents reacting if they were like energy types, so a Fire damage concussive force might set off alchemist fire, but wouldn't effect acid flasks.

Personally, I don't think I would have it deal any additional damage as part of the spell, but I could very go for it creating a dangerous hazard that the PCs will either have to deal with or watch innocents suffer. Using chase mechanics I think one could build a pretty interesting encounter as a race to stop the fire / save innocents.
