Why is Mogaru a magical beast?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I would think a DRAGON would make more sense. After all, a dragon is defined as a reptilian creature, usually with a breath weapon. That certainly describes Mogaru.

Kaiju are Kaiju. They are more like natural disasters than dragons, thematically, and dragons have weaknesses and strengths that are different from Kaiju. If you are playing them all as targets, then never mind.

It could have something to do with with the different "class abilities" between Magical beast and dragon. I notice that, despite the long list of immunities, the two that would be provided by the Dragon type (sleep and paralysis) aren't there. With Int 3, there's not much reason to have all knowledge skills, linguistics, and UMD class, and given there was a Will save-based weakness built in, moving Will to a good save might well have been counterproductive.

Also, the first creature printed in PF that could arguably be considered a kaiju (the tarrasque) was also a somewhat reptilian Magical Beast.

Interestingly, the tarrasque in the original mythology WAS a dragon (and probably not as powerful as in DND/Pathfinder)

Mogaru is Pathfinder’s Godzilla. Godzilla is not a dragon. Hell, sometimes he is literally an ordinary animal that got hit with radiation.
