Okay Gang,
I need your help here. I'm trying to build a super arena for a game I am running. I have a grid 8 by 8 that will have separate zones with separate effects that can be occurring at the same time. I'm looking for terrain effects that can have an effect on combat that are constantly changing. Ideally I would have as many as 100 and wood able to roll Cent I'll determine what happens in any particular grid. I'd like them to be scalable by CR so that the arena can grow with the players and they can return again and again. I think some obvious ideas would be a pit trap, elevation change, any other spontaneous trap effect, and the like has anyone seen this type of thing done before?

OK. Scaling from least to highest. I may add more details or ideas later.
Smoke patch. The ground produces a cloud of fog or smoke.
Fire! In addition, the undergrowth catches on fire.
Poisonous gas.
Erupting volcano. Blocks of stone fly out and may hit people.
Icy ground.
Whiteout. Sleet storm effect over the area, plus random gusts of wind (which do not remove the sleet storm effect.)
Crystalline ruins. The ruins shoot spikes at those within 30', or within 100' if they're flying.
Avalanche. 1 round after anyone enters the area
Swamp. Add several bog and a few deep bog squares.
Glutinous swamp. Also add a grease effect and a glue seal effect within the area.
Quicksand. Also add some areas of quicksand.
Vile swamp. Those within the area may catch a disease.
Healthy plants. The area has undergrowth by default, thick undergrowth in some parts.
Entangling undergrowth. And an entangle effect over much of it.
Angry trees. Effects damaging plant life in the area lead to trees animating as treants to attack the offender.
Fey forest. Some fey play tricks using illusions on those entering the area.
Savannah I. Several baboons lope around and may get in the way.
Savannah II. A pair of hyenas stalk baboons and the seriously injured.
Savannah III. A pair of lions stalk baboons, hyenas and the injured.
Savannah Rex. A tyrannosaurus rex challenges anything in sight.

Cobwebs. A couple of areas with stationary spider swarms. They will inflict damage on those entering the areas or staying there, but will not pursue any leaving.
Sticky webs. A web spell effect in one area. Spider swarms will move towards the web if anyone gets trapped in it.
Floating webs. Two balloons, each supporting a moon spider, float on fixed paths at 20' speed around the edge of the area. The moon spiders will try to web targets in range.
Towering web. A web supported by two great trees or pillars, inhabited by a giant tarantula.
Sinkholes.
Pits.
Acid-filled pits.
Rifts.
