Two-Handed Fighter Questions

Rules Questions

1. If a THF gains the Two-Handed Thrower feat, does the THF’s thrown weapon attacks gain a damage increase?

2. Whenever a THF uses abilities that require a standard action and a single attack, can they apply vital strike to the damage?

1. Only if they are throwing the weapons with both hands, and they can't be light weapons.

2. No. Only when they use the attack action can they vital strike. An Attack Action is a specific combat maneuver that takes a standard action.

1. The only thing the feat does for a two-handed fighter is let them throw weapons faster. Because the only requirement for two-handed fighter is that they make an attack using a 2-handed weapon, they get the benefit of overhand chop and backswing regardless if they throw it or not. Spears are such a weapon that could be used like this w/o modification.

2. Probably not? This is more of an issue with vital strike then anything else. But it depends on the abilities in question. Vital strike is a special type of attack action. So anything that triggers when you do an attack action (like overhand chop for example) will trigger and function with vital strike. Anything that requires a different kind of action that gives you an attack as a result does not allow for vital strike (eg. spring attack, charging).
