Is There a Feat That Allows a Character to Know Important People?

Advice

The subject says it all. One of my players is building a sort of street character that might have connections in high places.

Friends in High Places

It is a trait

Black Marketer is something like that.

The Vigilante class, particularly social talents have a lot of things that work along these lines.

Just taking the diplomacy skill can represent this. Particularly when thinking about the 'Gather Information' aspect. Achieving a high gather information roll can always be flavored as 'Your old friend Jimmy, now known is Jimmy the Snitch, tells you that the assassins guild has a base somewhere in the sewers beneath the temple district.' Of course feats can increase the diplomacy skill.

You can also just have this sort of thing happen through roleplay. The characters get chance to meet and help out NPCs, the NPCs will be helpful to them in the future, perhaps leading to more contacts etc.

Eh, if this is intended to be backstory and it doesn't utterly derail your game, then just go with it. My fighter doesn't need a trait to define whether he starts the game on good terms with his parents. That's what imagination is for.

If you want it to have predictable mechanical benefits, then maybe make a custom trait for the player or find one that fits and massage it a little.

Skill focus knowledge nobility.

Noble Scion (scion of lore) results in a Knowledge(nobility) check of 6+INT at 1st level. (Whether any of them know you is another matter.)

Thanks, everyone!
