Proficiency based off of player level leading to arbitrary bonuses.

General Discussion

This is just a post where I’m going to voice my concerns with proficiency.
There are parts of the playtest that I am loving and as I’ve been spending most of my time on DnD 5e, PF2 is shaping up to be a refreshing rpg that I could sink my teeth into.
Having said, why must every roll and stat increase so drastically? I can understand that bigger numbers leave more room to add/subtract for flavour without any major consequences, eg) If a player flavours their attack, I’m more likely to give the a +1 bonus in PF than I would be in DnD. But can’t the bonus ceiling be a little lower? No one at my table wants to be carrying out complicated additions but with +20s to hit they cannot avoid it.
I understand that reworking an aspect like that would be HUGE and take an extreme amount of work but as it stands, the main reason I won’t be picking up PF2 is because of it’s excessive bonuses.

Note: I have no problem with adding on conditional/circumstance/item bonuses/penalties as they’re all small buffs/debuffs. My problem is mainly just with bonuses being based off of level.
