OK., mage armor grants you a +1 bonus to AC for 24 hours; and at higher levels it actually looks pretty impressive grants a bonus to both AC & saves.

Then, it goes and states that the bonus is used with your unarmored proficiency to calculate your AC.

I can't even find unarmored defense in the rulebook? From what i see not even monks have it? LOL

So, what - everyone is untrained that means -1 to AC at first level ?

According to the Post-GenCon update stickied at the top of this forum, all characters have Unarmoured proficiency at least at Trained. And Monks start at Expert Unarmoured per their class entry (Graceful Expertise).
