Seems like in melee combat, this would be the optimal action sequence. No 2nd strike penalties.
Puts them down for the entire party, and takes away an action on their turn.
This will SLOW down my game significantly.
If we go to play by post, we’ll need to know the results of each trip before proceeding.
Speaking of which, can the monsters do this to us?
That would make combat like a big mud wrestling fest. Everyone down on the ground.
If true, this is a deal breaker for us. We’ll go back to 1st edition.

For PBP, just use an if statement: "If my trip succeeds, then I attack, otherwise I use trip again."
This happened in 1E too, just not at first level due to needing iterative attacks.
