Healing Hands Question

Skills, Feats, Equipment & Spells

Healing Hands states "Add a Verbal Casting action to the casting of the triggered spell and increase the number of Hit Points the target regains by 1d8."

The Heal spell uses a Somatic component to use it as a Touch spell, and an additional Verbal component to cast it as a Ranged spell.

Can you use Healing Hands with Heal as a Ranged Spell, requiring 3 actions (Somatic, Verbal, Verbal)? Or, can you not have a spell that uses two of the same type of action?

This would also apply to other things like Reach Spell, Command Undead, Necrotic Infusion, Cast Down, Heroic Recovery...etc.

We ran into this last night. We had two different opinions. One stating that by adding the verbal component you received benefits from healing hands and the verbal component of the spell. The other was basically you have to choose which effect you want the verbal component to have. Which way is it, or is there a different answer?

There is no restriction against repeating casting action types. This should be stated explicitly somewhere, but isn't; but you can tell from things like "sorcerers can replace any Material casting actions in the spell with Somatic casting actions." Depending on what you're doing it's not hard to end up with a Somatic, Somatic, Somatic casting. So your Somatic, Verbal, Verbal is fine.

That should answer Mubrew's question too.
