It seems best for a fighter to spam Double Slice or Power Attack and seldom bother with shields and fighter class feats
Double Slice and Power Attack are real, meaningful, no-nonsense damage. They do not require futzing around with a shield, and they can directly eliminate enemies from a fight. Many fighter class feats simply are not compatible with these two heavy-hitters, and many look unappealing anyway, since they faff around with minor riders which sometimes give the enemy a choice of effect.
Thus, it seems to behoove a fighter to archetype away and seldom bother with their class feats, instead simply spamming their high-damage options. This seems like a terribly disappointing paradigm for fighters, and I was hoping to see something more akin to the Tome of Battle or Path of War.

Yes, there is. but this board is going to die, and proper ones will be set up, so best stick to a single reaction thread.
That said, I think you're wrong about fighters. There are a lot of interesting options there, for several fighting styles. They've got one of the more interesting set of feats, frankly. Several of the other classes are oddly limited in ways I don't really understand (particularly ranger)

Just to be thorough, I mentioned Power Attack in the opening post, and now I am having second thoughts about it. At first, I was sure that it added even the extra damage from weapon potency runes, but now that I look at the wording again, I am not so sure.
If Power Attack fails to multiply the extra damage dice, then:
Barbarians want neither Double Slice nor Power Attack.
Fighters want a two-handed weapon and Furious Focus and Sudden Charge (or possibly both with the human's Natural Ambition).
Paladins want neither Double Slice nor Power Attack.
Rangers want neither Double Slice nor Power Attack.
Rogues want to multiclass into fighter for Double Slice.
Does this seem about right?
