Conceptioning the Archivist Bard

Advice

So the archivist is an old archtype that is supposed to focus on knowledge and academics

But it is still keyed off performance and charisma

I am struggling to get my head around how a high charisma “archivist” could work.
Don’t get me wrong there are obviously charismatic academics - is that what this is trying to achieve?

And i assume their performance only really makes sense as Oratory? Or perhaps Act?

I suppose I was looking at trying to make a gawky , knowledge focused character as an NPC and high charisma doesn’t really make sense for that . I guess that one would be some kind of investigator?

I think that to make the abilities match up with the concept, the archetype could have been better named/described. They don't really have any abilities that seem to connect to dusty tomes, but if you think of them as a 'Lore Singer' or something similar they work well. Basically like other bards, but even more so, they focus on stories, legends and stuff like that.

With that concept they could have any performance type you wanted. Keeping them a 'dusty tomes' guy oratory works best probably.

With their abilities, they are going to be able to be a lore master equivalent to high int guys, but they get their bonuses from a different path.

There is an Int-based bard now, the Chronicler of Worlds. It's not compatible with the Archivist though. You might use that for your NPC.

To make a Cha-based archivist work as a concept I might think of someone who really loves and is good at teaching.

Dark Archive

when i played one in pfs i used a variant tiefling, and took the bodyguard feat and helpful trait

16 int and cha work fine
