Pale Flame

When I hurl this fire at enemies it reduces the duration by 1 minute for each throw.

The one thing I'm unsure about, is if I attack with a melee touch attack for the flame. Does that also reduce the duration of the spell by 1 minute or ONLY if I throw it?

Any use of the Pale Flame to attack, ranged or touch, uses up a one minute duration of the spell.
