Intelligent weapon has a mind of its own and is not charmed with the wielder. If the charmed wielder tries to do something that opposes the weapon's purpose, it can resist the wielder, as per normal Ego rules. However, even if the item becomes dominant, it won't remove the charm on the wielder. It will just mean that the wielder will have to complay with the weapon's demands if he wants to continue using it.

If the item wins dominance and the owner starts to do actions that are against the item's purpose or alignment it could force them to stop. That is regardless of charm or not charmed. It could make the wielder attack someone that the item considers an impediment to its special purpose. These are extreme actions for an item, usually they make requests and refuse to operate if not complied with. Most items that match with the wielder won't even try to gain dominance.
If the player wins the contest of wills, the item is forced to operate as the wielder wishes for a day till the next contest of wills.
