Hey, so the quest I have is for the Reincarnate spell for druid.
I have a druid in my party that had a wolf companion, he died.
so my question is this, can he just do the spell and revive him?
the description of the spell was
"Components V, S, M, DF (oils worth 1,000 gp)"
beyond the 1,000gp I couldnt really figure out what are those "components"
and second question is - can he really just summon his companion? are there diffrent rules for druid companions in regards of reviving?
third, can he actually just summon him in *any* body? like, can he take on a bear form?
also, can he *just do it*? like, reviving him, just like that? the description is a bit shady
thanks for answering!

1. They're the usual definitions for spells. See the magic chapter of the core rulebook or my summary below
V = Verbal, the caster needs to speak.
S = Somatic, the caster needs to be free to gesture.
M = Material, the oils you noticed. These are expended in casting the spell.
DF = Divine Focus, a divine spellcaster needs to have their holy symbol or a druids' holly &/or mistletoe.
2. 'For a humanoid creature, the new incarnation is determined using the table below. For nonhumanoid creatures, a similar table of creatures of the same type should be created.'
i.e. the wolf would by RAW be reincarnated as a random creature. If you want to bypass this because you couldn't bear a seal animal companion (or whatever) talk to your GM.
3. Assuming the wolf is willing to be reincarnated he can just cast the spell and it'll work. Were you expecting something else?

Reincarnate is a 4th level druid spell. It will bring back your pet as a different pet. Based on the random table [not supplied], if your pet returns as an animal not allowed as a companion, then you have a problem. If they come back as a valid companion, then then get the advancement for the companion, but choices can be changed.
On the other hand, Raise Animal Companion is a 5th level druid spell. It work the same as a Raise Dead spell, but at 20% of the cost. [And the same price as the Reincarnate spell.]
For reading the line: "Components V, S, M, DF (oils worth 1,000 gp)"
The "M" is "oils worth 1,000 gp".
You cannot choose the outcome of the Reincarnate spell.
You can just do it because it is just a spell.
If you want a specific creature, the 24 hour ritual is the way to go.
