This discussion arose in Discord a couple of days ago.
Even though the combo "Contingency + Raise Dead" is one that I have used in the past, I've noticed there's a line that would seemingly make that void.
*The spell to be brought into effect by the contingency must be one that affects your person and be of a spell level no higher than one-third your caster level (rounded down, maximum 6th level).*
Raise Dead is not a spell that affects your person when you are setting up Contingency (it's not even a spell that affects a person period)
Secondary (and here's where I get to read way too much into the spell), would Contingency even be able to trigger on death? I mean, the target of the spell was you, and the caster is now a corpse a.k.a. no longer a valid target for Contingency.

lol... most GMs will let it slide.
Contingency says, " the latter being “cast” instantaneously when the prescribed circumstances occur" it acts as an interrupt.
Secondly the spell states, "The spell to be brought into effect by the contingency must be one that affects your person and be of a spell level no higher than one-third your caster level (rounded down, maximum 6th level)." is a looser condition than spell target personal or you as it allows touch spells to affect you.
Advice-
I find that Raise Dead 5th is not worth putting in a contingency. Why? LoL, you should NEVER be in that position in the first place so it is a waste of your only contingency. You want your spells to be effective and work, not unused overhead. Make sure someone has Healer's Gloves or a scroll of breath of life, or Cure light with reach metamagic.
Instead put in a (by spell level); False Life 2nd, Bear's Endur(CON +4) 2nd, Mirror Image 2nd, Blink or Displacement 3rd, Cure Serious Wounds 3rd, Dim Door 4th for 400ft to the rear, Emergency Force Sphere 4th, Cure Critical Wounds 4th, Shadow Projection 4th or Magic Jar 5th(wow, suddenly you fall 'dead' and now your body is an object 8^0), Heal 6th. Condition, "if I take more than half my maximum hit points in damage in a round"
You should have up Ablative Barrier, False Life, wearing an Aegis of Recovery, an ioun stone or two that up your CON vs Death and possibly give you slow regeneration. Your bonded object allows you to cast Emergency Force Sphere in case of emergency.
If you need to kill someone in an emergency force sphere send in an earth elemental as it's really an emergency force hemisphere.

Usually the companion spell I had was Teleport (once I got high enough to do so) and I would end up back in a safe sanctuary where I arranged to have the necessary spells used to restore me to full function. In my case back to a special room within the local Temple to Mystra where I left various scrolls, wealth and instructions on who to contact in the event I showed up incapacitated or worse.
I wouldn't do Raise Dead if for no other reason I'd still be where ever I was when I died. Sounds too much to me like I'm just about to die again, the nasty creature(s) are still there or that river of lava, poison gas, angry Demi-Lich or you get the idea. Second I want it to cover more circumstances than merely dead, such as Feebleminded or otherwise drained to oblivion or some of the other *really bad things* that happen to adventurers that aren't simply becoming deceased.
