The Tieffling Subtypes

Advice

Hi, I've been wondering about it for some time and I wonder if some one can help me, does the ancestery of a Tiefling gives access to feats and such that require their ancestor's Subtype?

For example, does a Shackleborn (Kyton) Tiefling meet the Kyton Subtype requirement for the Nightmare Chains feat from the Book of the Damned?

Not by RAW no. A tiefling no matter the heritage is an Outsider (Native) which is obviously not an Outsider (Kyton). Similar to having a Draconic bloodline sorceror doesn't automatically let them take feats that require being a dragon.

As written, no. All Tieflings are Outsiders with the (Native) subtype. They don't take on the subtypes from their heritages, which are required for most of these feats (Nightmare Chains requires you're of the Kyton subtype, which Tieflings are not). However, as quoted above directly from the feat, ask your GM. You are still an Outsider to qualify with GM's permission.

Of course this is on a feat-by-feat basis. Read them all individually and see if they have either prerequisites you qualify for RAW, or a special section like above.

Thank you people!
