Ultimate Spellbook

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I would like to suggest/request an Ultimate Spellbook as one of the last PFRPG 1st Ed products. I know the production schedule is probably set in stone for the last few products in the line, but since it would be a compilation, it should be a fairly quick build-out to prepare. Even if it's only offered as a pocket edition, I know folks will want them, mostly to save themselves the headache of digging through 8 or 9 books to pick spells, but also as a GM to have a single-source spell reference guide mid-game. I personally would want no less than 3, possibly 4, for my group.

Archives of Nethys and d20pfsrd got you covered in a way no physical book ever will.

One third-party publisher has already expressed the intent to release a compendium of spells once all new books for P1E are out.

Those are fine in some cases, but I prefer the 1-2 line write ups found before spell descriptions when looking for spells to take. Also, online resources are occasionally less useful depending on signal, etc.

GM Rednal, do you know who and if it's been OK'ed?

I'd have to go find the thread - I'm not sure they actually mentioned the name of the company - but that's what was said. (Plans could change between now and the last PF1 release, of course.)

As for whether it's okay, the answer is "yes, if it's following the terms of the OGL". Any rules content that's made open content - as Paizo's spells generally are, and I can't remember an example that isn't - can be reprinted under the terms of the OGL. The product is going to have one heck of a licensing page (or rather, pages), but my understanding is that a complete print compendium of spells is quite doable with no further permissions needed.
