Which spell do you like to use with Contingent Spell (metamagic)

Advice

Greetings, I am playing a cleric and I was hoping to get some assistance in determining which spell would be good to have as a contingent spell (basically I'm trying to pick up a third metamagic I already have Persistent/Quicken)? And would you use it on yourself or your ally?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

If you're paying a feat you probably want to use it on more than yourself. I think there's a barbarian in your party who might like lesser restoration triggering when he gets fatigued.

I'd assume that your top spell level or 2 are reserved for your best spells and that contingent cures or whatever are lower priority, and so lower level. Even so a contingent cure light/moderate wounds when you drop unconscious might bring you back up and should at least stabilise you.

If you can somehow find out or guess what sort of conditions the enemy might inflict on you then having remove fear/sickness/paralysis or whatever trigger at the appropriate time is great.

Oh ya our paladin actually just retrained a mercy he got to do just that (heal fatigue). Is it worth a level 4 spell slot having a contingent say Remove paralysis? I'm thinking paralysis over sickened or nauseated just because it is more debilitating and we are in an undead dungeon right now and I'm sure some creatures can paralyze.
