Does Contingent Spell work with Reincarnate?

Does the Contingent Spell (Metamagic) work with the Reincarnate spell (including its variants)?

(Death should qualify as 'negative condition' shouldn't it?)

"Dead" is generally considered negative, and it is on the list of conditions. It was added in previous editions because once upon a time, there were no listed mechanical consequences for "dead," so if you wanted to be super pedantic, it didn't actually stop you from doing anything.

That said, you'd still have to pay the reagent cost of Reincarnate to cast the spell, and if it doesn't trigger within the duration of the contingency, the reagents are wasted. Breath of Life is generally the better option for a Contingent Spell.

No. Contingency has a maximum of 6th level spells. Resurrection is 7th level.

The question is about the Contingent Spell metamagic, not Contingency, and the Reincarnate spell, not Resurrection.

My B.

Totally works. By the time you have 6th-level spells, 1,000 gp isn't much of a bummer if you end up not dying.

Keep in mind that while the new body is at full health, it won't have its equipment--that'll still be attached to the old body. This could lower its utility, e.g., as a combat spell.
