Using Planar Ally to summon a mount

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

What kind of outsider might be suitable to be bound with Planar Binding or Planar Ally to serve as a mount? Nightmares come to mind, but you'd have to be evil if you want them to let you ride them.

that seems kinda cool, though is it an actual Beastiary creature?

It's from the Tome of Horrors 4 by Frog God Games.

If you want to have something from Paizo, you can check Orsheval from Inner Sea gods. Possibly with the giant template if you want it to carry a medium creature.

It's a calling spell, so you can use templates - for example Foo Creature template.. http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/templates/foo-creature-cr -1

Difficulty for players: You generally don't get to pick what creature appears, though you can certainly ask, and you're more likely to get what you want if you know the creature's name.

This is the case for Planar Ally spells, but for Planar Binding you can (in fact, you have to) state the kind of outsider you want to bind.
