Is Touch of Serenity worth taking if you already have Stunning Fist?

Advice

I'm looking at playing a monk and this thought crossed my mind while looking into potential feats.

Touch of Serenity has much steeper requirements, but even a basic Stunning Fist prevents the target from taking actions for a round so what benefit does Touch of Serenity have other than giving more attempts?

I feel like I'm missing something really important here.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

A few things stand out to me.

1) It is not restricted on targets immune to crits like Stunning Fist.

2) A level 8 UnMonk would have 8 stunning fists and 8 touches of serenity, so more options if you have longer fighting days.

3) Stunning fist has a Fort save, Touch of Serenity is a Will save so you also open your options depending on the strengths of the enemies you're facing.

Yes.

There are very few things that can handle both Stunning Fist and Touch of Serenity, and ToS functionally gives you "free hits". The classic Big Strong Fighter is typically stuck with no other option than "Run" after a ToS. It's good stuff.

That all makes sense. A little rusty still so this stuff didn't occur to me but I see the strength now.
