Fear aura during charge

Rules Questions

Sorry if this was already answered, I didn't find it in the search engine.

So, imagine I declare charge against an enemy, and turns out it has a fear aura (I aready moved already almost twice my movement as charge states) that causes panicked, what happens? I guess I drop anything I was holding/wielding, but do I flee? I don't have any more movement and charge must be done in straight line. Do I end where my charge ends, in front of my enemy?

You end your charge when you get panicked whether that's right in front of your enemy or further away. Since a charge action does not allow for other movement and doesn't generally allow you a 180-degree turn, you don't move again that round, whether or not you have any possible movement remaining in the charge.

Edit: to be clear, fleeing along a random path away from the source of your fear (panicked) and charging in a straight line towards what is now the source of your fear are two incompatible restraints on your movement. Which means you won't move as part of the charge from the point you get panicked.

Thanks, that seems more logical than what my GM ended doing, making me flee at 4x my speed in opposite direction after already moving almost twice due charge.

Yeah, I'd say you skid to a sudden stop, drop everything, and just kind of scramble there trying to change direction. Panicked creatures flee when they can, they don't get bonus actions or the ability to act out of turn in order to do so.

Cowering maybe...
