What's going on with the forum? Everything is so slow. Opening a thread takes like 15–20 seconds, posting something new takes even longer, maybe 30 seconds. It's never been that slow.

I’m still having this issue. Right now I’m in Safari on a fully updated iPhone.

I concur. This site has been one of the worst forums I've been on in terms of performance and reliability. It's down often, and the site runs slow like it's being Doxxe'd or something most times I'm on.

Being attacked by spammers it appears. They do this every so often.

Adding a Favorite also sometimes takes a long time (seems to be random), and sometimes just times out.

3 minutes. I had enough time to wait for a couple of minutes, open a new window, search for this thread, and finish typing.

I'm not being mean. I just want to let you know.

Silver Crusade

Yeah I think it's the bots this time, we've never had this many for so long.

Shadow Lodge

I understand spammers may be assaulting the site here today, but I've noticed a general slowdown for a few days now, and today. Damn. Glacial.

Silver Crusade

The hamsters powering their servers must be dying. I sent them directions to the nearest pet store which is 5 minutes away.

The spammers have been going at it for over a week now, I've been spending a chunk of every morning flagging the bastards.

Good for you Rysky. Thanks to your diligence I have not seen any until today.

Silver Crusade

Yay! Sorry I slacked off ;_;

We have some speed improvements that will probably be coming sooner rather than later but not this week. When we have a lot of spammers, they end up using a lot of resources, often quite a lot because they are automating a lot of stuff. That's largely what happens during the weekend when things get slow.

How do they get in? Don't they need accounts to post?

They have a thing that automates that part. We have stuff in place to catch them but it's not perfect. Nothing really is, so some accounts slip through. They often end up eventually telling on themselves but not always.

Here's what I pictured in my mind:

"Spam, spam, bacon and spam. Spam, eggs, spam, spam, and spam. Spam, spam, sausage, eggs, spam, and spam...."

"I DON'T LIKE SPAM!!!"

Not sure if this is related (maybe some kind of timeout issue?), but attempts to log in sometimes fail with no error message (doesn't say incorrect user name or password -- just goes back to the home page almost as if it had worked, except that I am still Guest).

I've been having serious issues with forum posts taking forever to load for about two-three weeks now

Can you start a different thread for that. It's a completely different thing.

^I'll do that (or see if somebody else already did) if the major web site update turns out not to have fixed it.
