Possible problems when using SLA's for a Cleric

Advice

When trying to make a touch attack with a SLA what are some good ways to help penetrate enemy spell resistance?

That's tricky. Almost every such thing applies to spells, not SLAs. You could get a reroll via an amulet of the blooded (destined), or a bonus via an otherworldly kimono (eventually)... and that's about it for clerics, practically speaking. They don't get the splinter spell resistance spell, and a nullifying weapon is too expensive and too ineffective.

That's a neat kimono. At the higher levels 12+ does it just become too difficult to land a SLA that Cleric domains provide?
That would be a shame if that was the case because the majority of encounters will eventually have spell resistance and having a domain power that can't continue to scale would be a real dilly of a pickle.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

You're still looking at a ~50/50 chance of cracking SR without bonuses. Assuming you're using domain strike (or a conductive weapon) to make it a rider to an unamed strike (or a spell storing conductive weapon) which is carrying a spell as well, rather than relying on a level 1 power alone at double-digit levels that's acceptable.

There are ways to lower a target's SR. Do that first, then your SLAs penetrate more often.

It's limited, but the Human Cleric FCB gives a +1 to the caster level check for overcoming the SR of Outsiders. It doesn't specify what it's for spell casting or SLA's, so should work against both.
