so, i have an idea for a cool "battle herald" , but with almost full spell list.
level 1 : cavalier, halfling or gnome (or Wayang..)
Gendarme Archetype
feats: power attack + mounted combat.
also allow heavy armor + all martial weapons.
take a wolf.
lvl2 + Cleric, Evangelist.
the trait to cast at -1 lvl.
so you got almost full bard boosting (Evangelist) - so your party loves you.
you got great weapon and armor .
your saves are OUT there.
round 1 always bard boost + cast a spell to buff up, while mount gets you to a charging zone .
round 2 > charge .
your total damage will be decent. your party will love you. you can ofc heal and do other stuff.
any advice ?

I have been working on similar builds. Here are my experiences.
I have a gnome Evangelist with a Sorcerer dip who inspires and buff, then does some save or suck casting. He uses the animal domain for a companion that grapples and flanks for the group. Inspire, flagbearer, banner of ancient kings, flank, menacing, grapple helps the group a lot. The build is fun and powerful.
Trying to work out a martial build. Inspire + aura from the heroism domain works amazingly well together. Obviously reach cleric is the first thought but a human archer with a fighter/or pali dip would work.
Now this is how I came to the same idea you did, a mounted build. A dip for feats is nice. You could pickup a mauler familiar from the chosen one paladin, or eagle domain if you gm is cool. There are several domains/inquisitions that will allow you mount to level with you.
Ideally you have a levelled mount and the heroism domain but I have not fully worked out the details.
