Scent & alchemist fire

Rules Questions

Would a character with scent get a perception check with alchemist fire or any other alchemical ingredients? If so, if one of the other characters has it on their possession would they be able to tell whether or not it is their companions or elsewhere? I would imagine that if it is in a flask they would not be able to smell it but if it is coated on the walls floor and ceiling they would. What is the DC for something like this?

Walls floor and ceiling coated? I'd call that blindingly obvious to scent, DC 0. It could cover up other smells when close enough. I'd give someone without scent a chance of smelling it, maybe DC 10 when they're within 10' or so.

If someone has a sealed flask and they're not the one who made it then I'd imagine some high DC, maybe 30 or so. An alchemist who makes stuff like that all the time, maybe DC 15 to tell.

Isn't the point of alchemist fire being pyrophoric? How would you coat the walls for a delayed reaction?

This sounds like a scenario in an AP; if so, you'd have to ask the writer.

Thank you for all of your replies. They were of much help.
